Tags: lower back brace, Chronic, cI’ve injured my back 3yrs ago while lifting a heavy object in a wrong position. I felt a “tick” sound on my back and sudden pain and radiates into my lower legs (sometimes on the right & sometimes on the left leg). I received several physiotherapy treatment and somehow it was relieved. But there are times that it’s really painful and I can’t work properly. I’ve decided to have an MRI just to know if I have herniated disc, spinal stenosis, disc bulge, etc. but the result is NORMAL (at least its normal). maybe the problem is only muscle in origin. pain increases during prolong standing and sitting. I’m really desperate to find some good treatments for my back. I know physiotherapy can help BUT only temporary and also my pain is chronic that’s why I’m searching for other treatment options and I discover that pilates is good to relieve back pains & I’ve decided to enroll in pilates but while searching the internet I found this Bowen technique and many people also benefit from this holistic approach. Now I’m confused which of these two will be good for me and will benefit me. HELP!!!
PS
any bowen therapist here in Philippines? particularly in Quezon city area.
Had a fall back in Oct 06 where I fell down some steps & landed in a twisted position. Went to my usual chiropractor same day. Over the next 4 wks, going twice a wk, the situation deteriorated/exacerbated to the point where the pain started to travel down my right leg & foot, also making them wobbly. Stopped Chiro, had a few wks off from treatment (fear). Did own exercises. No better.
Started physio for next 3 months. No better – much worse after each treatment for days. Same thing after Osteo for the last 5 wks except that she also flared up my middle back and shoulder (wasn’t a problem before). Now pinched.
Am doing lots of exercise (abs, swim, walk). During ex’s this wk, low back pinched, couldn’t get off the floor. Kids had to assist me which is so hard to watch their scared little faces all these months. Sick of taking tablets. I have never had anything like this and it seems that all hands on treatment makes it worse. Grateful to hear your success stories. Im ȁ
OK…i used to work at a Chiropractic office and can tell you that you should figure out whats going on with your neck/back. Go to a Chiro and get checked out, state the severity of your pain and go from there.
As to the comment about nerve blocking…have you already been diagnosed? Don’t take meds of that measure unless you have no other solution
i am 7 mos out of back surgery for rupture at L4 L5…the pain im having is a result of lots of scar tissue wrapping around the nerve root as well as other places in the leg that was most affected. Is there anything i can do to get rid of scar tissue or at least significantly lessen its effects on me?
The pain i have are 4 disc’s in my back that are split and the liquid inside is coming out and touching my spinal cord, this is very painful most of the day. I have been sack from my job and now I am finding it very hard to get any work. Is there something I can take or do to help with the pain ?
Tags: Pain, Chronic, Back, TakeActually, I guess I should ask “What can I do to exercise with chronic severe back pain?” I was in a car accident in 95 and had horrible whiplash along with bruising along my spinal column. Then in 2005, I fainted at the top of stairs and fell down 6 steps breaking my tailbone and bruisingŃ vertebrae. I haven’t been the same since.
I keep on hand, vicodin, cyclobenzeprine and motrin 800′s to use when I get a flare-up. I’m having a very hard time today with the pain, even sitting hurts.
I would appreciate any input anyone might have. I’m 41 and feel like 90.
I’m 20 years old and I’ve had back pain my whole life but recently, the last 4 Years, its been chronic pain. Sometimes I don’t even want to get out of bed because it makes me cry ( I have a super high pain tolerance) and nothing ever helps it. I’ve seriously tried everything from chiropractic to homeopathic remedies. I know my back is curved in several spots and so is my neck also I have only about 45% range of motion that I should my chiro told me. I think I may have a slipped disk but I don’t know! Someone please help, an pain relief suggestions or how to check for a disk problem. Also I have no insurance. Thanks!
Tags: Back, please, Pain, Chronic, HelpOn my husbands MRI it said Large Herniated Disk( L4). All the doctor has done for him is give him pain killers. There has to be something eles he can do . The doctor also said he is to young for back surgery so all he has done is write him pain pills every month there after. There has to be something eles besides having to take pills for the rest of his life. I really hate feeling so helpless. When he is in pain its chronic. It really hurts me because I cant take the pain away. I would give him my back in a second. Thanks to anyone who can give some helping words.
Does anybody else out there use large doses of narcotic analgesia for chronic back pain and if so does it give the required relief? Very interested in side effects of drugs like fentanyl (Durogesic) patches, oxycodone and the likes. I am on fairly large doses of these meds and I never seem to feel “well”. I think some of my back pain may actually be kidney pain as a side effect of the pain relief. Also the whites of my eyes have yellow lines through them. Would this indicate liver problems? I am too scared to raise these issues with my GP at the moment in case he decides to stop the medication which would make my life a living hell pain wise. Please if you have had similar experience or have real advice for me, please answer asap! I am starting to feel really, really unwell all over.

I have tried OTC arthritis pain meds they don’t offer much relief for me. I have had surgery for herniated disc. My doctor says that there is a lot of inflamation and arthritis in my back. You can’t get Vioxx anymore. Is there an alternative?
Tags: Pain, Chronic, Relieve, inflammation, Arthritis, Backyou got some pretty super answers already. i just have to agree with some of the answerees before me ![]()
swimming. swimming and walking. i had a disc hernia 3 years ago, and my physiotherapist said that that’s the best.
swimming and walking (invest in a GREAT SPECIAL pair of shoes for walking, make sure they’re with air cussions), and eventually running if you can.
good luck, and in the final analysis, ask your physiotherapist or orthopedic doctor, whoever takes care of you ![]()
cheers, best of luck!
Yes they absolutely do, but you should be very careful, listen to your body, don’t do anything that hurts. You don’t have to do a full pose to get the benefit, so start with a gentle yoga class or video, and only go as far as feels comfortable. A class is most beneficial because you have the guidance of a teacher who can help you modify poses that might compromise your back.
I had chronic back pain, my low back was always achy, and through doing yoga for several months it disappeared completely. Again be careful, always be sure you breathe through all the exercises, breath is more important than the pose!
Good luck to you!
